Is this what you want? Is this what's best for our world?
Fortunately, there is a new global paradigm emerging that provides you and all of us with new choices and new chances to fashion a world we can feel good about. How would you craft an enhanced version of the world?
What is empowerment actually, you might ask? For this discussion, I prefer the Wikipedia definition.
"Empowerment refers to increasing the spiritual, political, social, or economic strength of individuals and communities. It often involves the empowered developing confidence in their own capacities."
"The most common way people give up their power
is by thinking they don't have any."
~ Alice Walker ***
Many in the world have, indeed, given up their personal power and domain over their thoughts, feelings and actions. This has come to be, over time, as groups with interest in power and control over the masses have moved to direct their finances and influence over the making of laws and the reinforcing of social customs that favor their individual and collective selfinterests.
"A people that values its privileges above its principles soon loses both." ~ former U.S. President,Dwight D. Eisenhower, first inauguraladdress.
In the 1950's, our then Republican President knew of the corrupting influence of greed on our society. Yet, in the many years following his term in office (over 6 decades); we as individuals have been unconsciously willing to give away personal power to political, corporate, social-religous, governmental and faux social-cause organizations.
"The things that will destroy America are prosperity-at-any-price, peace-at-any-price, safety-first instead of duty-first, the love of soft living, and the get-rich-quick theory of life." ~Theodore Roosevelt
"The world is governed more by appearance than realities so that it is fully as necessary to seem to know something as to know it." ~Daniel Webster
And we did and currently do; pretend to know what is going on when in fact we have been living with a growing sense of frustration and disillusion as our feeling of personal power continues to slip through our collective and individual fingers.
The past only dictates our future experience to the degree we remain focused upon the past and our current thoughts, feelings and actions reflect upon the limited self-love and self- appreciation of our past.
Will we as noted author, teacher and student of the ancient Toltec, Don Miguel Ruiz queries
"...find the courage to break those agreements that are fear-based and claim your personal power."
Power-filled personal Intentions are one of the key ways of offering direction to your combined thoughts and feelings that form the mental model we each have of how our world functions. This mental model in turn fuels our actions.
However we think, emote and act in the direction of something of importance to us ulimiately reflects upon the world we experience.
Here is a video for you to explore, Ten Intentions for a BetterWorld.
As you view this video please consider how the power-filled intentions might effect your world experience. If you applied some or all of these to your mental model; how might things change for you?
"Accept responsibility for your life. Know that it is you who will get you where you want to go, no one else." ~Les Brown
By opening to your personal power; you are affirming your intention to claim power over your life and affairs. Consider, if you will, these possible questions to add to your personal self-dialog.
- Do I allow fear-based beliefs to occupy my mental model?
- How much does self-doubt hold me back from pursuing my dreams?
- What enhanced abilities do I have which I hide from others?
- How often do my fears move me to remain silent about my true feelings?
- Am I willing to focus my energies in the direction of my: thoughts; feelings; and actions for my own personal benefit and that of the world?
- Will I focus upon aligning my thoughts, feelings, and actions in accord with my higher good?
- How can I best demonstrate my intention to live the life of my powerful dreams?
"What is true of the individual will be to-morrow true of the whole nation if individuals will but refuse to lose heart and hope."
~Mohandas Gandhi
Are you; are we ready to take on the opportunity afforded when insight incites change? I hope your answer is a resonding, yes!
~Dave Kenyon
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
~Marianne Williamson
